JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Supervisor is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out responsibilities delegated to them, provided such actions do not deviate from established policy and practice as defined by Pennswood Village and the current Pennsylvania Professional Nursing Act. This role supports the management of patient care services in both the Skilled Nursing Facility and the Personal Care Facility.
- The Nursing Supervisor assumes responsibility in the absence of the Director of Nursing and works collaboratively to ensure high-quality, compliant, and resident-centered care.
- Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all established federal, state, and Pennswood Village policies and procedures.
- Participate in the development of patient care policies, programs, and standards of nursing practice.
- Carry out professional nursing responsibilities independently and in collaboration with interdisciplinary staff.
- Apply the nursing process to patients and their families in the Health Center and residents and their families in their homes to meet healthcare needs.
- Maintain accurate, objective written and verbal communication.
- Coordinate interdisciplinary team efforts in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized plans of care.
- Plan and manage patient care assignments; consult on staffing patterns and scheduling needs.
- Provide demonstration, supervision, and evaluation of care delivered by RNs, LPNs, and CNAs.
- Protect and advocate for patient rights through leadership and knowledge of the Patient's Bill of Rights.
- Participate in ongoing in-service education and orientation programs for health services staff.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work environment.
- Actively pursue professional development to expand knowledge and clinical skills.
- Monitor medical alert and fire alarm systems to ensure the safety of residents.
- Perform clinical laboratory procedures as required.
- Assist with hiring, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development of staff.
- Manage payroll and personnel functions related to staffing and schedule changes.
