Job title: LOS Coordinator for Adoptions
Reports to: Adoptions Manager
Starting salary: $17.50
FLSA status: non-exempt, full-time hourly
Schedule: 40 hours weekly, Tuesday- Friday 10:30am- 7:00pm and Saturday 9:30am-6:00pm on Saturdays

Position Summary:
Length of Stay Coordinator's main role is to be an adoptions counselor specifically for pets available from foster homes. This requires coordination between adopters and foster parents and our teams in the shelter. Along with this responsibility they will attend shelter rounds and assist in LOS programs and tasks such as making pets available, coordinating the forget-me-not program, collaborating with marketing and communications on long term pets, and other responsibilities as needed. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Adoption manager but working closely with the foster, LOS, and marketing teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for learning and performing all duties of an Adoption Councilor.
- Provide customer service excellence in all areas of the Front Office
- Conduct adoption interviews to prospective adopters, educate the public on the basics of animal care, and review applications with management to determine approval, if necessary
- Maintain records of follow-up calls
- Enter data for records including adoptions, licenses, returned animals, and other information
- Handle customer complaints/issues and turn them over to the Adoption Manager as needed

Providing excellent customer service and stewardship towards volunteer foster parents.
- Coordinating and conducting zoom and in person meet and greets, providing follow up and timely holds for customers and foster volunteers, and sending home pets in a compassionate and celebratory manner for all involved.
- Collaborating with foster staff regarding a need for training or correcting a foster volunteer with adoption processes and procedures

Responsible for making pets available for adoption and foster teams.
- Ensuring pets are medically and behaviorally cleared with appropriate disclaimers and attributes
- Attending weekly rounds to represent adoptions team.

Assist with LOS tasks and being able to cover when LOS coordinator is out of the office
- Assisting with slow track pets to decrease LOS by adding to adoption summary, checking pictures, and other strategies to reduce LOS and increase marketing
- Assist in updating locations in shelter luv
- Assigning and tracking Forget-Me Nots, and slow/fast track labels
- Learn daily tasks in order to help cover for the LOS coordinator when necessary. Daily move lists, rescue requests and pickups, etc.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge or ability to learn about animal behaviors and health as well as basic animal care and handling
- Computer literacy
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and balance the needs of each
- Accuracy with data entry, detail oriented
- Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, with the ability to diffuse tense situations
- Patience and understanding towards every individual
- Ability to maintain professionalism in varying interactions
- Commitment to and enthusiasm for the mission, programs, and services of the Maryland SPCA
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, use of computer keyboard and telephone up to 8 hours per day with some bending, stooping and walking
- May assist kennel team with animal care/animal handling
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office setting within an animal shelter
- Noise level is usually moderate
