Job Description

The Critical Care Transport Nurse is primarily responsible for providing nursing care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports in accordance with JeffSTAT’s predetermined treatment protocols. The Critical Care Transport Nurse  acts as an ambassador of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH), as he or she is often the first member of the Jefferson healthcare delivery team with whom the patient and their family will have contact.

Nurses are responsible for the following: 

·         Performs patient procedures within the nursing scope of practice. 

·         Practices safe medication administration and assesses patient responses to medication. 

·         Participates in reviewing and/or implementing clinical pathways and care coordination. 

The Staff Nurse will provide professional nursing care to a group of patients within a specified time period and complete all required documentation. 

Qualifications for this position include: 

·         BSN Degree 

·         Pennsylvania  RN license (RN license for DE, NJ and MD required within 6 months of start date)

·         Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse (PHRN) certification  PA

·         Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association  and ACLS

·         3 years Emergency Department or ICU experience 

·         Certified Flight Nurse (CFRN) Certified Transport Nurse (CTRN) within two years of employment

·         Mobile Intensive Care Nurse NJ – MICN within nine months of employment

·         PALS, NRP, BTLS or PHTLS, ABLS, ASLS and ATLS or ATCN or TPATC required within 9 months of start date
