Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Data Architect to design enterprise-level data warehouse solutions with conventional database warehouse technologies and maintain the corporate data warehouse environment.
Reporting to the Director of Database Services, the Data Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and refining our data warehouse framework to support our organization's strategic objectives. The individual works with co-data architect, data solutions architect, database engineers, and database administrators to make architectural and implementation decisions. The Data Architect oversees essential data governance within the Data Warehouse environment and associated systems.
This position will reside in the Philadelphia office and offers a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.
Key responsibilities include:
Design and develop scalable, efficient, and secure data architectures leveraging SQL Server, Azure services, and data fabrics.
Implement robust data models, including Type 2 dimension modeling, to support complex business requirements and ensure data accuracy and consistency.
Leverage Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and others to architect cloud-native data solutions.
Design and implement Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes using SSIS and other relevant technologies to integrate data from various sources into the data architecture.
Implement data governance policies and security measures to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, define data architecture solutions, and drive successful implementation.
Document data architecture designs, standards, and best practices, and provide guidance and support to ensure adherence across projects.
Technical experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum 7 years of Information Technology experience with at least 4 years of experience as a Data Architect or similar role.
Demonstrated experience in data warehousing principles, approaches, technologies, and architectures.
Experience with conceptual and logical data modeling activities and a good understanding of logical functional/data decomposition activities
Experience with Azure cloud services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.
Extensive knowledge of complex SQL development and troubleshooting (tables, views, stored procedures, functions, indexes, scripts, etc.)
Expertise in ETL development using SSIS, and Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
Experience with a reporting tool, preferably Reporting Services (SSRS, PowerBI), Qlik
Knowledge of SQL Server 2016, 2019, 2022 environment
Hands-on experience with data fabrics and related technologies is a plus.
Experience with Informatica Integration tool is a plus.
