Basic Function
The Bureau of Consumer Protection enforces the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and other applicable state and federal consumer protection related laws and regulations. An employee in this position is located within a unit which requires the supervision of clerical employees who complete assignments of varying complexity. The employee is required to apply independent judgment while performing work that includes the supervision of subordinates through the assignment and review of work, training, employee development, performance evaluation, leave approval or disapproval, grievance handling, and the adjustment of employee complaints. Employees in this position function as the lead worker and may participate in the performance of their subordinates’ work consistent with operational or organizational requirements. The employee must become fully versed in the office’s policies, procedures, and protocols and in the office’s case management system as well as the operation of all systems and machines. The work schedule of this position is subject to indeterminable shifts in the priority of assignments due to external influences and time frame constraints. General supervision is received and work is seldom reviewed except for the evaluation of overall effectiveness.
